Harris Mill

Upstream: Reddicks-Hickory Creek

Harris Mill

Downstream: NC 62 Bridge

Rowan Ct Min for Jul 1767 granted Dr. James Harris license to build a mill “at the mouth of Baldwin’s Branch” on the Deep; and again in Oct 1767 he was granted permission to build a mill “on North side of Deep River above the mouth of Reducks Branch.” “Above the mouth of Reducks” would put this spot very close to the Freeman-Parson Mill, so perhaps it was the possible abandoned mill at mile 104-2. On the Guilford Historical Documentation map, Hughes shows James Harris Mill 1767 as being a little below Reddicks Creek. James Harris was listed as an adjacent property owner to Philip Ham when Ham bought 169 acres on the Deep in 1768 (Rowan DB 7, pg 277).
